Transformers: Rescue Bots Amazon.com Exclusive Optimus Prime

This is a strange one.  A couple weeks ago TF sites were reporting a new preorder on Amazon.com for an Optimus Prime repainted and remolded from Rescue Bots Hoist.  Hoist came out in 2012 along with Medix, and remain the only two robot characters to have toys and not appear in the cartoon (I think).  This toy gets even stranger.  It comes in a plastic bag inside a brown cardboard box with Hasbro’s typical legalese on it.  It’s very random, as Hasbro has gone to a new, smaller scale on the Transforming Rescue Bots toys, and I doubt anyone expected to see the old molds again.  Only thing I can think of is that this was manufactured a few years ago and never released, and they just wanted to move them.  I am hoping that someone asks about this at Botcon and posts where this toy came from.

They did a ice job repainting the toy into Optimus Prime, though why he would be a tow truck, I don’t know.  I like the head sculpt.  I just don’t get why this toy was released, and the way it was in a brown box is bizarre.

Overall: It came to about $21 with shipping I think, so it’s not super expensive, but unless you’re a completist, you can skip this one.

Thanks for reading!
